2016 Poets Breakfast Success
The weather was perfect and the poets were in good voice; so it was not surprise that the annual Poets Breakfast was a great success with numbers up by 18% from last year.
As always, Ian Mackay, our president, managed the event in his customary low-key, good-humored style well received by the poets and audience alike. Their laughter and applause rang over the Kenilworth showgrounds and drew in those who, despite extensive signage, were unaware of the event. Birdsong in the open air setting together with the aroma of freshly brewed coffee and cooked breakfast added to the atmosphere.
Old hands as well as new bards out-did each other with their yarns, quirky rhymes and witty observations about life, the past and, heavens forbid, even politics - all in good humour.
All agreed that it was a most entertaining morning and vowed to be back next year. Who would want to miss it?
