SORRY NO POETS BREAKFAST OCTOBER 2020
The Poets are coming again
Poets Breakfast Saturday October, 5th behind the Kenilworth Hall
Remember that old adage that laughter is the best medicine. Poets and audience alike are gearing up to head to Kenilworth for its annual Poets Breakfast which starts at 8 am on Saturday October, 5th in the woodchop arena just behind the Kenilworth Hall. Entry is $5 with both breakfast, and coffee and cake being available from stalls.
Hosted by Conondale Range Conservation as part of the Kenilworth Arts Festival, the Breakfast has grown from humble beginnings to being an annual favourite with both poets and visitors.
Again with popular local poet Ian Mackay as MC, this year’s breakfast promises to be better than ever with a good line-up of poets and yarn spinners, some familiar faces and some fresh ones, too.
Following the Breakfast, there’s ample time to visit the impressive art display, the centrepiece of the Kenilworth Arts Festival, in the hall. Increasingly attractive is the option of camping in the showgrounds and simply strolling over to the Breakfast in the morning.
For inquiries about the Breakfast phone either Ian 54 460 124 or Cheryl 54 460 350

Is Booloumba Creek 'loved' to death?
The majority of visitors to Booloumba Creek, a particularly scenic part of the Conondale National Park, are bush walkers, birdwatchers and families who love to escape the city for a while. However, since this treasure has been featured on a commercial TV channel it has attracted a very different kind of visitors. Over the recent summer months it has been inundated by some people who pay little regard to the environment nor even to adjoining private properties. They certainly don't seem to come for the love of nature, the sparkling water, the birdsong, and the rugged beauty of Booloumba Creek. They rather seem more interested in irresponsible 4-wheel driving, drunken behaviour and littering. QPWS staff, 6 km away, and neighbouring private landholders have to deal with the unpleasant consequences of these visits.
Conondale Range Conservation supports a group of local landowners who are appealing to relevant authorities in an attempt to curb such misuse of our national park. CRC members and visitors to the creek can assist by using social media to promote peaceful and appropriate conduct for the enjoyment of everybody. Visit www.facebook.com/booloumbacreek/ and help educate the public about the issue and rally their support. Let’s keep Booloumba Creek beautiful.
